1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO
The i3+ EVO and its sibling the i3 EVO are both identical robots that differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. The i3+ is a good option for those who want an automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but are willing to manually empty the dust bin when it is full.
Both robots do well cleaning up surface debris from carpets and hard floors, and they are very good at moving around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home, which help the i3+ EVO navigate and clean in a manner that maximizes efficiency. However unlike the i7+ and other top-rated robots that we tested, the i3+ doesn't have obstacle-avoidance capabilities and therefore it could be stuck on things like socks or power cords, and it may have trouble navigating across surface transitions, such as from hardwood to rug.
iRobot recommends you clear out areas that the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, which includes getting rid of any toys or clutter it may encounter. It's also a good idea to keep the dust bin and filter clean so that they do not become blocked by dirt. If the i3+ EVO's internal bin is full or the battery is depleted, it returns to its docking station and automatically emptying its dirt into the station's dust bin, and then continues cleaning where it began. The i3+ EVO's battery lasts for about an hour and a half of continuous use, and takes about three hours to recharge.
2. Roomba from iRobot
The iRobot i7+ is an excellent model from iRobot's flagship line and comes with the most recent features. It is self-charging and self-navigating. But the most important feature is the self-emptying bin. This eliminates the need for routine maintenance.
The Roomba i7+ can keep up to 10 floor plans and their names using Imprint Smart Mapping, an application that lets it map rooms so it can clean them more efficiently. It also works with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning tasks and direct your robot by voice or via the app.
The i7+ is more efficient and more maneuverable in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also cleaned large pet hair pieces from all surfaces including carpeting. The biggest advantage over the Eufy is its self-emptying garbage bin, which eliminates major sources of maintenance and lowers the cost of recurring maintenance.
We were also impressed with the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We utilized these services to instruct the robot on how to begin, stop, or pause cleaning sessions as well as move around the room and to vacuum a particular area. Connecting the i7+ to these services was easy and straightforward through the iRobot Home app. When connected, we were able to communicate with the i7+ using voice commands like "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options for managing the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
This tiny Dyson model is an all-sports car that is amidst a sea of vacuums with cords that feel like minivans and buses. It is powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in the majority of homes, but also small enough to fit on the bookcase or coffee table.
The V10 is powered by a seven-cell, high-energy lithium-ion battery that can provide fade-free power for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filter system traps allergens and releases cleaner air back into your home. Its cleaning head is specially designed and drives bristles of nylon that are stiff and deep into carpet to collect large particles and fine dust. It has three suction modes that can be adapted to the task. It can quickly change from floor vacuum to handheld vacuum, and vice versa.
The model comes with a dock which charges the Dyson to 100% within 3.5 hours. It also gives the ability to connect two attachments and an handheld. This is a huge improvement over older Dysons that require a lengthy charge and are difficult to store.
The main drawback of the V10 is its limited run time. Its claims on the market that it can last up to 60 minutes of running time are misleading as CR's tests have shown. This is a standard, not exceptional, battery-powered vacuum's run time. It's enough time to clean the average-sized home however, it's not enough time to get into every corner. 5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
